Jungheinrich wins IFOY ‘Special Vehicle’

Jungheinrich has two reasons to celebrate this year. The winner in the ‘Special Vehicle’ category, part of the IFOY Awards for the first time in 2016, is the Jungheinrich EJQ 325. This purpose-built vehicle was developed for the Deutsche Bahn rail company to permit the loading and separation of the wheel sets for the ICE trains and the wheel set changer. The solution is made up of standard components and impressed the jury above all with its precision. This kind of combination is extremely sophisticated in technical terms and has never before been realised in this form in the segment of industrial trucks.

“Jungheinrich’s special-purpose vehicle developers have succeeded in building a machine that meets the customer requirement of absolute precision,” said the jury.

The IFOY Innovation Check also classifies the degree of innovation as extremely high, as this kind of combination of multiple vehicles, each with its own power train, steering and brakes, is highly sophisticated in technical terms and has previously not been realised in this way in the field of materials handling equipment. One true USP is the option of operating the truck from positions on two opposite sides.

Jungheinrich has won its second IFOY award in the ‘Warehouse Truck Highlifter’ category with its EKX 516k.
