A new IKEA distribution center has gone into operation in Esipovo, about 50 kilometers northwest of the Russian capital Moscow. The logistics solution, which includes a 15-aisle high-bay pallet warehouse in silo design with a total of 210,000 pallet spaces, was supplied to IKEA by Hamburg-based intralogistics expert Jungheinrich.
As general contractor, Jungheinrich is responsible for the implementation of all intralogistics tasks from a single source and, as a system integrator, for the overall solution. The warehouse is 200 meters long, 130 meters wide and 45 meters high. The contract awarded by IKEA in 2015 is the largest single project in Jungheinrich’s corporate history.
