XPO Logistics to open new distribution center in Venlo

XPO Logistics, one of the world’s largest transportation and logistics companies, has announced plans to build a new distribution center in Venlo. The site marks a further expansion of XPO Logistics’ fashion and e-commerce operations in the Netherlands following the opening of similar facilities in Eindhoven and Tilburg.

Venlo will be one of XPO Logistics’ largest facilities in the Netherlands, with a floor area of approximately 60,000 square meters. The capacity will be dedicated to fashion logistics for in-store and e-commerce supply chains in all of Europe, including those of leading fashion brands. In addition to processing orders, XPO Logistics will coordinate with transport providers for carriage and manage the reverse logistics of returned merchandise.

Mauro Ungheretti, managing director of XPO Logistics in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany, said: “Venlo is the ideal location for international fashion and e-commerce logistics. Its position in the Netherlands offers easy access to international inbound and outbound flows of goods, as well as opportunities for expansion. Furthermore, the commercial composition of the region, with a strong focus on fashion logistics, is a pull factor for people with talent and expertise.”

The Venlo distribution center will be built by Prologis and is scheduled to become fully operational by early 2018.
